Observation two:

Early Riker was pretty darn awesome.

I'm only really familiar with later Trek: TNG - seasons 4 and onwards, really - and in those Riker is a stodgy boring "old guy", almost a martinet. I've always said "I don't really like Riker much at all", but I'm having to revise that. Early Riker, is quirky and charismatic and actually fun. ( Read more... )
